The post holder will be a visible and proactive role model who supports development in the multi-professional team working within the maternity unit.

The Maternity Practice Based Educator Midwife will work in collaboration with the Practice Development Midwife and Clinical Skills Educator Midwife for the development, planning, co-ordination, and delivery of mandatory and continued professional education programmes for all staff within the maternity unit. The post holder will have a comprehensive, specialised theoretical knowledge within their field of work and be involved in the designing, implementation, and delivery of all education programmes aligned with national strategy and safety initiatives and Local Maternity and Neonatal systems (LMNS).

The post holder be a midwife competent in assessment, planning, and delivery of care to women, babies, and their families through the antenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum period and will support high standards of care through an efficient and effective service.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Midwife with active NMC registration
  • Diploma/degree in midwifery

Desirable

  • NIPE/ENB 997, or working towards
  • Preparation for Mentorship or equivalent/practising Practice Supervisor/Assessor

Experience

Essential

  • Evidence of working autonomously and within multi-disciplinary team
  • Commitment to professional development & evidence of CPD

Desirable

  • Experience of clinical audit, research activities
  • Experience of teaching and assessing skills/ability
