Successful
post holders must be of a smart appearance, have an ability to communicate well
at all levels, be level-headed and remain calm during emergency situations, be
able to take instructions yet at times prioritise and act on their own
initiative and have a proven ability to work without direct supervision.
A detailed understanding of
hospital functions, experience of working with the general public and proven
driving experience are desirable however full training will be provided.
The successful applicant
must be flexible in their approach to working times, be available to work
shifts, weekends and bank holidays when required. There may be occasions where
the successful applicant is required to work at other sites within the Trust.
All
posts will be subject to a 6 month probation period.
To
provide a high quality Portering and Transport service as part of the CDD
Services team and ensuring that a continuity of service is maintained whilst
adhering to all relevant policies and procedures.
Provide a courteous,
efficient Portering and Transport service within the trust.
To project a friendly and
professional attitude to all patients, staff and visitors and to demonstrate
product knowledge when enquiries are made.
Main duties include
Patient movement
Transport
Clean and maintain Portering/Transport equipment
Waste management/linen collection deliveries
Collection and delivery of specimens/pharmacy
items/notes and other correctly packaged items
Postal duties (sort, frank mail etc.)
Mortuary duties
Delivery of supplies
Respond to and participate in emergency procedures
(fire, cardiac arrest etc.)
Transport and change medical gas cylinders
Assist any other staff when required
Move furniture and equipment
Any other appropriate duties as
required
The
above list is not exclusive or exhaustive; the successful post holder is
expected to be co-operative and flexible in line with the needs of the post,
department and also the needs of the business.
Where available, visa sponsorship is subject to the role meeting the Home Office Skilled Worker eligibility requirements. This includes, but is not limited to, the role being eligible for sponsorship and meeting the applicable salary threshold and other immigration requirements. Eligibility for sponsorship will be assessed in line with current Home Office guidance.
This is a legal and regulatory requirement, and we cannot proceed with sponsorship until UKVI has completed the approval process.

Essential
- A proven ability to work without direct supervision.

- Worked within a customer facing environment and experience of working within a fast paced team.
Qualifications
Essential
- Good written / verbal communication skills, flexible, motivated, keen, able to work as part of a team & individually and must have good levels of personal hygiene.
Special Skills and Knowledge
Essential
- Able to take instructions yet at times prioritise and act on own initiative.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
Desirable
- NVQ Level 2 Customer Care.
- Full UK Driving Licence with proven driving experience. A detailed understanding of all hospital functions.
