To meet the requirements of the post, the porter will provide an effective service for the Rotherham General Hospital, escorting patients between wards and departments via wheelchair and Bed. Transporting equipment, mail, meals, linen, waste and moving furniture. Required to use electric Tug to transport waste and linen.Out of Hours working under their own volition i.e. prioritising their own jobs, and taking direction from the Supervisor.Work in high pressure areas to ensure safe and timely patient transfers.Working in high activity areas i.e. A&E is essential.Required to carry a mobile telephone to access patient transfers of the electronic Teletracking system. May be required to drive Trust vehicle as and when required.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Maths and English Grade C/4 Or above

Desirable

  • Willing to work towards relevant NVQ qualification
  • Computer literate
  • Due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently between TRFT sites and for patient visits in the Rotherham area and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. If necessary, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010

Knowledge

Essential

  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of Basic Health & Safety

Desirable

  • Policies, practices and procedures e.g. NHS national policies, standards, requirements and directions that relate to job role
  • Knowledge of Hospital environment
