An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technical Instructor/ Physiotherapy Assistant to join the orthopaedic team at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor. The suc...

  • To assist physiotherapists and independently implement physiotherapy treatment programmes for patients from a designated caseload including those with complex presentations. This being underpinned by base level theoretical knowledge and practical experience acquired through short courses, in-house training and experience to NVQ level III or equivalent.
  • To set up and support the pulmonary rehabilitation classes.
  • To maintain clinical records within professional codes of practice and Chartered Society of Physiotherapy guidelines.
  • To ensure a high standard of care with each patient working with all agencies and disciplines involved.
  • Supervises and teaches less experienced physiotherapy assistants
  • Regularly undertakes and participates in evidence based projects and assists in implementing changes within designated term/area.

Qualifications

Essential

  • NVQ Level III/ BTEC or equivalent in health related subject or working towards it - OR recognized equivalent qualifications.

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Meets all essential criteria as per attached job description/person specification

Desirable

  • Previous experience at Technical Instructor/ Physiotherapy Assistant
  • Previous NHS experience

Other

Essential

  • Physically fit and able to manually handle loads including physio-therapeutic handling throughout most of the day
  • Ability to move between departments and sites in a timely manner

Desirable

  • Welsh speaking

Skills

Essential

  • Ability to work independently within clinical area
  • Ability to be self-motivated
  • Good verbal and written skills
  • Proven organisational skills including prioritisation

Desirable

  • Ability to lead and motivate others within the team
