  • Deliver high-quality, patient-centred nursing care across dermatology and phototherapy services.
  • Support consultants and clinicians during surgical and dermatology procedures, including theatre preparation and assisting in clinic.
  • Provide expert advice and support to patients before, during and after treatment, including telephone advice where appropriate.
  • Prepare clinical areas, maintain accurate patient records and ensure the safe use of equipment and clinical resources.
  • Promote the highest standards of patient safety, infection prevention, COSHH compliance and clinical governance.
  • Work autonomously while effectively prioritising workload and contributing to a collaborative multidisciplinary team.
  • Communicate professionally with patients, colleagues, GPs, hospitals and other healthcare professionals.
  • Respond confidently to emergencies, incidents and patient concerns, ensuring excellent standards of care at all times.
  • Maintain compliance with the NMC Code, organisational policies and professional standards.
  • Contribute to service improvement, clinical education, research and your own ongoing professional development.

Kent Integrated Dermatology Service (KIDS) and Sussex Community Dermatology Service (SCDS) is a busy community dermatology service stretching across North and West Kent, Coastal West Sussex, Horsham & Mid Sussex and Crawley CCGs. SCDS also has a sister service called Surrey Dermatology Service which covers Surrey Heath and Guildford & Waverley CCGs.The clinical team consists of consultants and GPwSIs as well as registered trained nurses and health care assistants.

The service aims to see and treat patients during their initial appointment in order to avoid the patient having numerous follow-up appointments. The clinical services available to the patients within our service include day surgery, minor operations, patch testing, photodynamic therapy, skin prick tests and phototherapy.

The team is committed to individual learning, professional development and strives for excellence in patient care. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will enhance this reputation and promote high standards of clinical care and assist the clinical team in the service and delivery of the dermatology and phototherapy service to all patients.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate should be able to work within a professional team environment.

They will be highly patient focused, demonstrate a proactive approach to professional development and be committed to the development of the phototherapy service. Experience in dermatology and phototherapy is preferred but not essential as full training will be given. The successful candidate will be supported by the clinical team however they must be able to show initiative and flexibility when working with clinicians or in nurse led clinics.

This permanent role is contracted for 37.5 hours per week. Working 4 days per week.
