Applications are invited from enthusiastic and well motivated individuals to join our team providing high quality, compassionate care to our patients....
To collect blood samples by venepuncture from patients in a supervisedenvironment.To be able to communicate effectively with all members ofstaff and patients, whilst being sensitive to patients' needs.To learn all Phlebotomy skills to enable accurate collection of blood samples.Preparing and maintaining clinical areas.To work accurately and safely under pressure.The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.The role will involve visiting GP Surgeries and outlying Hospitals as well as performing venepuncture in inpatients. The role will include weekend, Bank Holiday and evening working.

Qualifications and/or Knowledge
Essential
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
- Evidence of maintaining their personal development
- Demonstrates an understanding of the scope of the role in the context of the clinical team
- Knowledge of the fundamentals aspects of care and the importance of the promotion of health and wellbeing
- Understanding of basic physiology, e.g. normal vital signs, fluid balance, nutritional requirements
- Understands the principles of - confidentiality, consent prior to undertaking care, when to seek advice and escalate to the appropriate registered professional for expert help and advice Safeguarding adults/children to keep patients within their care safe
- Understanding of the Health Board's Values and Behaviour Framework
Desirable
- Vocational qualification in a healthcare related subject.
- Basic First aid qualification
- ECDL or equivalent
- Vocational Qualification level 3 in relation to a relevant Healthcare Science subject Or Attainment of SBU Health Board Phlebotomy Training Modules to Intermediate Level & Attainment of Advanced Phlebotomist training modules.
- Experience in Phlebotomy.
Experience
Essential: - Working with public/patients; - Working in a team environment; - Ability to effectively communicate with people
Desirable
- Experience of delivering training.
- Relevant experience of working in a hospital environment.
- Relevant experience of working with the public.
- Full awareness and understanding of health and safety protocols applicable to Phlebotomy including infection control.
