Undertake venepuncture/phlebotomy

safely and effectively within your training, competenceand agreed scope of practice.

Provide a

caring, professional and reassuring experience for patients attending for blood

tests.

Correctly

identify patients and ensure samples are accurately labelled, recorded, handled

and prepared for transportation in accordance with Practice and laboratory

Maintain high

standards of infection prevention and control, patient privacy, dignity and

confidentiality.

Accurately

record clinical activity and relevant information in the patient's clinical

record.

Maintain

clean, safe and appropriately stocked clinical areas and report any equipment

or supply issues.

Work

effectively with GP Assistants, Nurses, GPs, Healthcare Assistants and the

wider multidisciplinary team.

Support

patients who may be anxious or require additional reassurance.

Participate in

training, supervision and competency assessments, with a commitment to ongoing development.

The role requires a flexible and adaptable

approach to meet the changing needs of the service, including responding to

changing workloads, priorities and patient requirements. The postholder may be

required to undertake other appropriate duties within the scope of the role to

support the effective operation of the clinical service.

As a phlebotomist you will work

as part of the Healthcare Support team to provide a safe, effective and

patient-focused phlebotomy service. The role will involve undertaking

venepuncture, preparing and handling blood samples, maintaining accurate

clinical records and supporting patients throughout the blood-taking process.

The postholder will also

undertake routine health assessment measurements, including recording height,

weight, Body Mass Index (BMI), smoking and alcohol status.

The role will involve working

closely with the nursing team, GPs, GP Assistants, Healthcare Assistants and

wider multidisciplinary team, maintaining high standards of infection

prevention, confidentiality, patient dignity and safety. The postholder will work

within their training, competence and agreed scope of practice and contribute

to the smooth and effective delivery of clinical services.

Working

Hours

37.5 hours per

week (full-time) preferred. We may also consider applications from candidates

seeking a minimum of 30 hours per week.

Working hours

will be scheduled within the Practice's opening hours, Monday to Friday 08.00

to18.30 and Saturday 09.00 to17.00
