Phlebotomist

Undertake

venepuncture/phlebotomy safely and effectively within your training, competence

and agreed scope of practice.

Provide a caring, professional

and reassuring experience for patients attending for blood tests.

Correctly identify patients and

ensure samples are accurately labelled, recorded, handled and prepared for

transportation in accordance with Practice and laboratory requirements.

Maintain high standards of

infection prevention and control, patient privacy, dignity and confidentiality.

Accurately record clinical

activity and relevant information in the patient's clinical record.

Recognise and appropriately

escalate any concerns regarding a patient's health or wellbeing.

Maintain clean, safe and

appropriately stocked clinical areas and report any equipment or supply issues.

Work effectively with nurses,

GPs, Healthcare Assistants and the wider multidisciplinary team.

Support patients who may be

anxious or require additional reassurance.

Participate in training,

supervision and competency assessments, with a commitment to ongoing

development.

Contribute to the delivery of a

safe, efficient and high-quality phlebotomy service.

The Phlebotomist will be an

important member of the Healthcare Support team, providing a safe, caring and

professional phlebotomy service to our patients.

The post holder will undertake

venepuncture/phlebotomy within their training, competence and agreed scope of

practice, ensuring patients receive a positive and reassuring experience. The

role will include the accurate identification, labelling and handling of blood

samples, maintaining appropriate clinical records and following Practice and

laboratory procedures.

You will work closely with

nurses, GPs, GP Assistants, Healthcare Assistants and the wider

multidisciplinary team, maintaining high standards of infection prevention and

control, confidentiality, patient dignity and safety.

Full training and support will

be provided, including appropriate competency assessment, making this an

excellent opportunity for someone who is keen to develop their clinical skills

within General Practice. The successful candidate will be expected to

participate in training and ongoing development and to recognise and

appropriately escalate any concerns regarding patients.
