Provide a high-profile lead role in the provision and development of pharmaceutical services to the diabetes and endocrinology department
Lead on the pharmacy sustainability agenda and work closely with the Chief Pharmacist on the ICB sustainability plan .
Develop and maintain a role as a non-medical prescriber (NMP).
Play an integral role in the multidisciplinary team that delivers a high quality clinical service to endocrinology patients within the Trust. This will include regular attendance of consultant-led ward rounds, independently prescribing to optimise individual patients' medicines and leading a team of junior pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to deliver an effective pharmacy service.

Previous Experience
Essential
- Relevant post registration experience in acute hospital pharmacy
- Experience of working in Endocrinology
- Supervision of staff
- Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Experience in training and development of junior staff
- Proven experience of audit
- Experience in writing policies/guidelines/PGDs
Desirable
- Analysis and management of drug expenditure
- Presentations at local/regional level
- Experience prescribing in specialist area
- Quality, service and/or cost improvement projects and report writing
- Investigation of incidents and risk management
- Management of staff
- Tutoring of post graduate or foundation trainee pharmacists
- Ability to take initiative and lead on projects including change management
Qualifications/Training
Essential
- Masters Degree MPharm
- Registered with the GPhC as a pharmacist
- Evidence of CPD to maintain fitness to practice
- Postgraduate Diploma in Pharmacy Practice or equivalent (completed both year 1 and year 2)
Desirable
- Qualified and registered as a non-medical prescriber (or working towards completion of NMP qualification)

- Excellent general and endocrinology clinical knowledge
- Able to use clinical knowledge at senior level
- Specialised knowledge of drugs used and therapeutic trends within specialised area
- Knowledge of healthcare systems, guidance and NHS change
- Able to critically appraise research data
- Knowledge of post graduate education for pharmacists
- Confident user of Excel, Microsoft Word and Powerpoint
- Good working knowledge of NHSE directives e.g. NICE and commissioning policies
