Applicants must be confident communicators with the ability to liaise with colleagues and patients. Essential qualities are strong organisational/time management skills with the ability to multi-task and work under pressure. Flexibility is required as the post holders will be required to work across UHDB.

Applicants should have demonstrable experience of working in a busy customer-focussed or care environment or have call handling and reception experience. Applicants must be experienced in using IT systems and/or appointment systems although training will be given.

Core skills/qualifications include: educated to English Language and Mathematics at O' level/GCSE level, IT literacy, good written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work as part of a team and individually, with minimal supervision.

We see on average 4810 OP appointments a day.We are the 4th busiest Trauma & Orthopaedic outpatients department in England - an average of 2077 per week.An average of 1115 patients are seen in A&Es across our network every day - 3rd largest in the country.Our hospitals admit an average of 195 emergency patients daily.Last year we undertook almost 33,700 planned surgical operations in our 57 operating theatres.We are one of only 7 Trusts nationally with more than 50 operating theatres.We carry out more than 140 elective procedures each working day.UHDB is a research active University Hospital with a large and varied portfolio of clinical trials and research opportunities for all staff.

Communication

  • Demonstrates the experience and ability to communicate across different staff groups both verbally and in a written form

Experience & Knowledge

Essential

  • Previous customer care experience.
  • A recent knowledge and understanding of administrative procedures.

Desirable

  • An understanding of the 18-week RTT process.

IT Literacy

Essential

  • Demonstrates experience working with different IT systems and managing data
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office
  • Experience handling multiple data sources (across IT systems and paper based)

Desirable

  • Knowledge and experience of Imaging based IT

Organisational Skills

Essential

  • Demonstrates experience and the ability to prioritise their own workload
  • Demonstrates experience managing multiple tasks

QualificationsEducation, Training and Qualifications CPD Requirements:

  • Good standard of English GCSE or equivalent.
