The role involves supporting the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of children and young people aged 0 to 25 years with a wide range of physical, developmental and complex needs. Working under the direction of registered physiotherapists, the post holder will deliver and progress therapy programmes, monitor outcomes, provide feedback on progress, and contribute to ongoing assessment and discharge planning. They will work independently within agreed care pathways, managing a delegated caseload across a variety of settings including homes, schools, nurseries and community locations.

Key responsibilities include supporting children and families with therapy and mobility programmes, advising on the safe use of equipment, monitoring postural management equipment such as standing frames and walking aids, and promoting functional mobility and independence. The post holder will liaise closely with families, education settings and partner agencies, providing advice, reassurance and signposting to appropriate services where required.

The role requires excellent communication and organisational skills, with responsibility for maintaining accurate clinical records, prioritising workload, undertaking administrative duties, and contributing to service development, audit and quality improvement activities. The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting colleagues, sharing knowledge and contributing to the effective delivery of the therapy service. They will be expected to demonstrate professional accountability, maintain clinical competencies through ongoing training and development, and provide compassionate, child and family-centred care while managing a diverse and rewarding caseload.

Qualifications and training

Essential: - Higher apprenticeship level 5 /Foundation Degree in related subject; - Assistant practitioner qualification or equivalent

Desirable: - Evidence of/willing to undertake training relevant to the post.

Experience

Desirable: - Working in a multidisciplinary team; - Experience working within AHP profession; - NHS/Healthcare experience
