An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Oral Health Improvement Practitioner to join the Designed to Smile Team in Cwm Taf Morgannwg Uni...

To be aware of National and Local oral health data and programmes and resources to address inequalities in oral health.

To support and deliver 'Designed to Smile' Oral Health Improvement Programme in schools and pre-school settings in line with WHC (2017) Number 23 Refocusing of the Designed to Smile child oral health improvement programme.

To plan and deliver oral health training sessions across sites in CTMUHB for multi-agency groups, health and educational professionals. To liaise with external agencies and local authorities.

To provide in depth/specialist knowledge and advice of oral and public health information to health/education professionals through various forms of teaching, training, assessment and evaluation which contributes to the patient/client care some of which may have learning disabilities, autism and physical disabilities. To be aware of cultural and language differences.

To work within Welsh Government frameworks regarding oral health, nutritional and educational guidelines, policies and initiatives.

To participate in regular reviews with your manager and to identify training and development needs and to complete mandatory training as required.

However, successful candidates will be expected to develop the Welsh language skills needed for the role following appointment. Essential

Essential

  • Qualified Dental Care Practitioner to Degree level or equivalent skills, knowledge or experience.
  • Up to date GDC Registration
  • Certificate in Oral Health education or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience
  • Teaching Certificate or equivalent qualification.
  • Knowledge of National and Local oral health statistics
  • Specialist knowledge of current oral health, nutrition and education messages.
  • Qualification in Fluoride Varnish application
  • Welsh language skills at Level 3 or above or willingness to learn once appointed

Desirable

  • Qualification in food and nutrition skills
  • Knowledge of local health needs
  • Knowledge of developing programmes relating to oral health/teaching.

  • Proven IT skills/Knowledge of variations of IT packages
  • Presentation skills
  • Awareness of general health messages
  • Awareness of safeguarding policies
  • To keep up to date with current and evidence based oral health care information.
  • Teaching/Training experience

Desirable

  • Experience of leading or managing teams
  • Experience of working in a Community Dental Service.
