The role will include the assessment and recording of visual acuity and colour vision using Ishihara testing, visual field assessment, optical coherence tomography (OCT), corneal topography, wide-field retinal photography and intraocular pressure measurement using iCare tonometry. The post holder will also instil ophthalmic medication under the guidance and supervision of a Patient Support and Guidance (PSG) practitioner, in accordance with local policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Essential

  • 5 GCSE's/BTEC/NVQ 2 or equivalent technical qualification

Desirable

  • Experienced in Healthcare

Knowledge

Essential

  • Basic MS Office Skills
  • Experience working with computers / data handling / collating patient data (paper & electronically)
  • Multidisciplinary team working
  • Working with the public

Desirable

  • Venepuncture skills
  • Experience working in hospital.
  • Previous experience of working in ophthalmology or related services.
