To work under the guidance of an Occupational Therapist in thedelivery of clinical interventions using a range of technical andcreative skills to engage clients in occupational activities. You will facilitateplanned group work, individual activities and ongoingcontinuous assessment with supervision.

  • Contribute to occupational therapy assessments e.g. Activity of DailyLiving Assessments (ADL) and treatment plans under the guidanceof an Occupational Therapist.
  • Under supervision of an Occupational Therapist, provide a range ofactivities, instructing and guiding clients with more complex needs tosupport them in achieving identified occupational therapy goals, withsome supervision.
  • To contribute to the generic tasks of the team as directed by aregistered occupational therapist.
  • To actively promote service user driven O.T interventions within arecovery approach.
  • Have a basic working knowledge of the medication prescribed for thepersons in their care.
  • To form professional relationships with clients and communicate withthem in a way that respects their views, autonomy and culture.
  • To report effectively to the local clinical and occupational therapyteam on a clients performance and progress in the areas of self care,productivity and leisure.
  • To demonstrate effective communication skills with people whoseunderstanding may be impaired.
  • To provide relevant information, written and oral, for documentsrelating to clients progress under direction from an OccupationalTherapist.

The successful candidate will receive monthly clinical supervision from the ward Occupational Therapist. In addition, you will receive support from the wider inpatient occupational therapy team with access to monthly group supervision and CPD sessions.

The organisation has regular learning events and networks with a professional structure in place.

Qualifications

Essential

  • A recognised qualification in an area related to the workplace or equivalent technical/life skills
  • Evidence of a commitment to lifelong learning
  • Health care or relevant NVQ level 3 or equivalent skills

Knowledge/Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working with people with mental health needs in a paid or voluntary capacity
  • Experience of facilitating groups or activities
  • Experience of being supervised
