Obstetric and Gynaecology Consultant

• Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
• CCT (or within six months of obtaining) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
• Broad experience in general Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
• Evidence of teamwork, flexibility, and excellent communication skills.
• Commitment to clinical governance, audit, and teaching.

• Subspecialty or special interest that complements the department.
• Involvement in service development and innovation.
• Experience in undergraduate or postgraduate teaching.

• Alternating Obstetrics and Gynaecology on-call split rota.
• Resident cover during evenings and weekends as specified.
• Four hot weeks of acute cover annually.

Essential

• MRCOG or equivalent
• Applicants must have GMC Registration with a License to Practice
• All applicants must have Specialist registration for Obstetrics & Gynaecology (or within 6 months of being admitted to the register for trainees, if currently in a training programme in the UK) but consideration will be given to applicants with relevant consultant level experience or trainees in a UK training scheme who are within 6 months of attaining specialist registration2

Essential

• Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in all aspects of the Obstetrics & Gynaecology specialty
• ATSM in Advanced labour ward practice, high risk pregnancy, Maternal medicine

Desirable

• Understanding current issues within Obstetrics & Gynaecology and the future direction of the specialty
• Understanding current issues within the wider NHS
• Attendance at a recognised management course
• Shows ability to work with and lead others across professions
• ATSM in Colposcopy, Hysteroscopy or Benign Gynaecology

Essential

• Experience of and enthusiasm for clinical teaching of postgraduate doctors and non-medical staff

Desirable

• Academic achievements/evidence of familiarity with research methods which have resulted in publications
• Training in clinical and educational supervision
• Attendance at a teaching course
• Formal qualification in teaching/education
