  • To be professional and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your own work including the management of patients in your care.
  • To undertake specialist assessment, interpret the relevant clinical findings of complex patients with musculoskeletal pain or those who have not responded to primary care interventions.
  • To make decisions, using investigative, clinical reasoning and analytical skills regarding the appropriate medical investigation of choice and implementation of such including injections.
  • To ensure a high standard of clinical care for the patients under your management, and support and facilitate more junior staff to do likewise, using evidence based practices and evaluate outcomes.
  • Provide timely advice over the management of all patients entering the care pathway.
  • To advise GP's, patients, families, employers and Physiotherapists on best management.
  • To be responsible for the setting and monitoring of standards and policies of clinical practice physiotherapy service referring patients to the specialist pathways.
  • To keep accurate, legible records of patient care in line with Trust and service guidelines, being responsible for all physiotherapy records held by the Specialist service, using audit tools when appropriate
  • To lead in quality improvement, such as projects to support shared decision-making and improve patient centred care, helping to deliver the NHS long-term plan.

Qualifications

Essential

  • BSc Hons Physiotherapy or equivalent (e.g degree in Chiropractic)
  • Health Professions Council Registration or equivalent e.g General Chiropractic Council
  • Post graduate study to M level
  • Evidence of post graduate courses/CPD

Desirable

  • Member of Chartered Society of Physiotherapy or equivalent professional body
  • IRMER qualification
  • Membership of MSK Special Interest Group

Experience

Essential

  • Significant relevant post-graduate MSK experience with experience at senior level
  • Evidence of continuing professional development portfolio
  • Previous NHS Experience
  • Experience of audit and service development
  • Experience of working closely with other health professionals
