To perform a wide range of cross-sectional imaging (CSI) examinations/scanswithin MRI.To work with the MRI Team Leader and Advanced Practitioner Radiographers to ensure the efficient and cost effective delivery of the MRI service.

To work as part of a team providing a 13 hour / 7 day service. The MRI department operates from 7:30-20:30 and the shifts are aligned to these hours.

To act as shift co-ordinator in the absence of the MRI Team Leader, takingresponsibility for the operation of the MRI department, including prioritising the workload, managing workflow and staff resources to ensure the highest standards of patient care are achieved.

To make operational management decisions out of hours in the absence of the Team Leader and Advanced Practitioners in MRI.

To work with the Team Leader and Advanced Practitioner Radiographers to continually improve the MRI service.

Justify radiology referrals (within scope of practice) using referral criteria which falls within the Royal College of Radiologists Guidelines and the Clinical Imaging Protocol Manual.

To comply with the MHRA Safety Guidelines for Magnetic Resonance Imaging

While currently we don't provide an on-call MRI service, candidates applying for this post would need to work out of hours and support an on-call system in the future, if it were to start

Qualifications

Essential

  • DCR / BSc in radiography
  • HCPC registration
  • Competency in MRI - current

Desirable

  • Post Graduate Qualification in MRI
  • Working towards MRI or other CSI qualification

Experience

Essential

  • 2 years Post Graduate Experience
  • Cannulation and administration of IV drugs

Desirable

  • Experience of shift co-ordinator duties
  • Clinical experience in other imaging modalities

Practical & Intellectual Skills

Essential

  • Ability to work autonomously or as part of a team
  • Portfolio evidence of CPD
  • Ability to prioritise own workload and work under pressure.
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Basic IT skills necessary to use specialist imaging equipment.
  • To carry out audit and contribute to clinical governance.
  • Ability and commitment to carry out IV cannulation and administration of IV drugs
  • Ability to work across professional and organisational boundaries.

Desirable

  • Extensive clinical and technical knowledge in trauma, acute and general radiography including MRI
  • Experience in using PACS and RIS
