Job description

Coventry and Warwickshire Pathology Services (CWPS) provide Mortuary services across three mortuary sites; University Hospital Coventry NHS Trust, Rug...

  • Responsible for inputting accurate and timely patient data on to relevant Trust computerised systems.
  • Responsible for the safe disposal of contaminated materials, including sharps and confidential waste.
  • Undertake telephone and face-to-face enquiries dealing in a professional manner.
  • To prepare the bodies of deceased patients for viewing in accordance with trust policies and procedures.
  • To prepare the bodies of deceased patients for release to undertakers in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for the dispatching and posting of samples to authorised persons and laboratories ensuring compliance with all statutory regulations.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Basic education to GCSE level
  • Level 2 RSPH certificate in mortuary support or willing to work towards
  • Aptitude for learning from "on the job" training

Desirable

  • GCSE or equivalent in English, Mathematics, Biology/anatomy

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in a customer facing environment

Desirable

  • Previous NHS experience
  • Previous mortuary or funeral work experience

Knowledge

Essential

  • Awareness of NHS systems

Desirable

  • Knowledge of NHS systems

Skills

Essential

  • Patient focused Basic IT skills
  • Ability work cooperatively within a team
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

Desirable

  • Experience of working within a team
