- Provide strong clinical, professional and operational leadership for the Interventional Radiology service.
- Ensure the safe, effective and efficient delivery of high-quality patient-centred care.
- Provide expert radiographic support during complex interventional procedures and maintain a high level of clinical competence.
- Lead the day-to-day operational management of the modality, including staffing, workforce planning, workload and patient flow.
- Line manage, support and develop the IR team, including recruitment, appraisal, performance management, training and competency assessment.
- Lead on clinical governance, audit, risk and quality improvement within the modality.
- Develop, implement and review policies, procedures and clinical pathways to support safe and effective practice.
- Monitor service performance and identify opportunities to improve productivity, and efficiency
- Work closely with Interventional Radiologists, nursing teams and the wider multidisciplinary team to support effective service delivery.
- Support equipment procurement, maintenance and the introduction of new technology and techniques.
- Promote professional development and evidence-based practice within Interventional Radiology.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, professional standards, Trust policies and radiation safety requirements.
- Contribute to the strategic development and future planning of the Interventional Radiology service.

Qualifications
Essential
- Diploma of the College of Radiographers or Degree equivalent
- HCPC Registration
Desirable
- SOR Accredited I.V. Cannulation Certificate
Experience
Essential
- Extensive Interventional Radiology and Fluoroscopy Experience
- Experience of staff supervision, mentoring, training and competency assessment
- Experience of working within a complex, high-acuity IR environment
- PACS and EPR Experience
- Experience of working effectively within a multidisciplinary team
Desirable
- Experience of working in the NHS.
- Experience of post qualification working in MRI
- Experience of service management, workforce planning and managing competing operational priorities
- Experience of clinical governance, audit, incident management and quality improvement
Skills & Knowledge
Essential
- Knowledge of Health and Safety issues relating to IR
- IT literate and ability to navigate several interlinked digital and IT systems.
- Must communicate effectively at all levels.
- Strong understanding of radiation protection, IR(ME)R, clinical governance and patient safety
- Competent in supporting a broad range of complex interventional procedures such as angios, PTCs, embolisations
Desirable
- Awareness of NHS Challenges.
- Aware of CT Service Challenges.
- Experience of Cone-Beam CT
