To provide professional expertise in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for children and young people in LD-CAMHS.

To provide professional advice and support to other agencies and members of the multi-disciplinary team.

To provide professional leadership and line management supervision to other team members as required.

  • To provide expertise as an independent practitioner within a community specialist LD-CAMHS setting, liaising with, advising and supporting other professionals as necessary
  • To provide expertise in the assessment and management of emergency and routine referrals to LD-CAMHS based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex information from a variety of sources including self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients and their families/carers.
  • To work autonomously, manage own caseload and provide caseload management, clinical and line management supervision to others under the direction of the LD-CAMHS Manager/Clinical Lead.

Essential

Essential

  • Professional qualification in mental health related subject e.g. Registered Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Psychologist, Psychotherapist or equivalent
  • Registered with a governing body as relevant to the above
  • Degree/equivalent experience in LD-CAMHS related field
  • Demonstrates advanced assessment, risk assessment and care planning skills
  • Demonstrates ability to understand and apply adapted therapeutic approaches e.g.CBT/Solution focussed approaches for people with learning disabilities, ASD and ADHD
  • Sound knowledge/experience of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) model in practice
  • Demonstrates effective written and verbal communication skills when communicating with staff at all levels, service users, public and external agencies
