As a Medical Secretary, you will provide administrative support to the medical team at Spring Wood Lodge. You will manage diaries, plan meetings, update records, and handle various admin-related tasks. Working closely with Registered Clinicians, you'll assist with confidential paperwork, service user records, and GP letters. You'll liaise with external agencies for up-to-date information and record blood test results. The role offers a plethora of courses to help you grow and develop your career. Essential responsibilities include supporting clinicians with letters and documentation, minute taking, checking and amending documents, and coordinating hospital diaries. You'll also need IT skills, experience in audio typing, communication and organizational skills, a minimum of 4 GCSEs, and knowledge of mental health and medications.

Working 37.5 hours a week, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to medical team at Spring Wood Lodge. From managing their diaries, planning meetings to updating records, you will be able to turn your hand to any admin related task.

As the Medical Secretary, you will work alongside the Registered Clinicians assisting with confidential paperwork, service users records and GP letters. You will liaise with external agencies to get up-to-date information on service users and GP letters.

As a Medical Secretary you will be

  • Supporting the Registered Clinician with letters and general documentation
  • Supporting all meetings as minute taker as requested chaired by the Medical Director, SMT or ad hoc.
  • Receiving and record typing, checking, and amending for spelling and grammatical errors, completing within given deadlines.
  • Participating in the administration, development and evaluation of regulatory matters.
  • Co-ordinating the hospital diary and the whereabouts of the clinicians
  • Booking in meetings
  • Arranging Conference Calls

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • IT skills including Microsoft Office
  • Experience of audio typing
  • Communication and organisational skills
  • A minimum of 4 GCSEs or equivalent
  • Knowledge of mental health and medications

Where you will be working

Location: 1 Towngate Close, Guiseley, Leeds, LS20 9PQ

You will be working at Spring Wood Lodge, a service that supports women over the age of 18 who have complex emotional and mental health problems associated with significant risk behaviours. Typically they have a diagnosis of personality disorder or a severe mental illness.

They may not have had their needs met in a general psychiatric service including acute inpatient units, community mental health teams or community personality disorder service. Working as part of a team, you will focus on active rehabilitation with a view to achieving sustainable discharge.
