Previous experience within a GP practice or similar healthcare environment is essential.

Key responsibilities will include

  • Opening and closing the practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with practice policies and procedures.
  • Welcoming patients and visitors in a friendly, professional and courteous manner.

  • Managing the appointment system, including booking, amending and cancelling appointments.
  • Taking accurate messages and ensuring information is passed promptly to the appropriate person.
  • Processing and distributing incoming and outgoing correspondence, including post, emails and electronic communications.
  • Monitoring and using practice email accounts and the intranet in accordance with practice procedures and information-governance requirements.

  • Entering, updating and allocating information accurately within patients electronic records.
  • Processing, recording and collating information in accordance with practice procedures.
  • Liaising professionally with clinicians, colleagues, patients and external healthcare organisations.
  • Maintaining patient confidentiality and handling sensitive information with care and discretion at all times.
  • Supporting the wider reception and administrative team to ensure an efficient service for patients.
