As a Maintenance Technician (Mechanical), you will have a mechanical or building services engineering background and will be able to carry out maintenance, repairs and installation with minimum supervision throughout estate. You will be expected to complete first fixes of other trades, for which suitable training for shall be provided to ensure an efficient service is provided to our Trust sites. You will also act as the Trust representative in the absence of the Estates Officer/Supervisor when requested to do so as and when the need arises by line management.
You will be working on the full range of estates building services equipment which require comparison of complex facts requiring analysis to resolve technical issues on multi-faceted equipment/situations many of which have a direct impact on patient safety and the built environment. You will be responsible for calibration, maintenance and fault finding on a wide range of engineering plant and equipment including steam raising plant and associated equipment, steam sterilisers, medical gas systems, nurse call systems, fire detection, building services controls, standby generator plant, heating and ventilation control systems and refrigeration and a range of other mechanical plant and equipment.

Qualifications
Essential
- City & Guilds / NVQ 3 in Mechanical Engineering / Fitting or equivalent
- Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable
- Multi-skill qualification i.e., NVQ level 1 or 2 in another trade or a multi-skill qualification
- F-Gas Certificate (2079) Gas Engineering Qualification
Skills
Essential
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Able to fulfill on-call requirements
Desirable
- Ability to use hand held devices and computers
Expeience and Knowledge
Essential
- Post qualification of experience working as a Mechanical Technician/Fitter.
- Awareness of Health and Safety in a maintenance environment (training will be provided).
Desirable
- Experience of working in an Acute Hospital/Healthcare environment.
