This great opportunity allows you to use your advanced communication skills, cancer knowledge and experience in supporting patients, families and their carers on their cancer journey within the cancer information centre, outpatients, as an inpatient or through community working. From the worried well to those with palliative care needs, your service will be an additional support service allowing you to work along the cancer clinical teams for the needs of our patients/ carers or relatives. You will provide them with the information and support that is required be able to refer to the necessary teams or agencies.
You will work with cancer services, Integrated Care Boards, and the West Midlands Cancer Alliance, Macmillan Cancer Support and gain patient feedabck . This will allow the continual developing of the centre through promotion and development of support groups or information as required.

Qualifications
Essential
- Registered Nurse on the NMC or HCPC Registered Professional.
- Masters Degree (Health Service/ management related) or relevant experience.
- Qualification in cancer / opalliative care or relevant subject.or working towards
- Advanced Communication Skills training or prepared to work towards.
- Evidence of continued professional development.
Desirable
- Leadership training
- Recognised teaching qualification
Experience
Essential
- Specialist knowledge of the cancer agenda.
- Experience of teaching.
- Leadership & management experience.
- Experience of advance communication skills.
- Experience of managing staff / volunteers.
- Experience of working collaboratively with a wide range of people & organisations.
- An understanding of the voluntary organisations in cancer.
Desirable
- Experience of audit & research. Work / experience in information support services
Knowledge
Essential
- A thorough understanding of the skills needed to give information to cancer patients, their relatives, and friends.
- Understanding of personalised centred care An understanding of the integration of support services into cancer care.
Desirable
- Knowledge of appropriate legislation with regards to sharing patient and staff data and protecting confidentiality.
Skills
Essential
- A commitment to maintaining good standards of practice related to professional code of conduct.
- Good written and excellent verbal communication skills.
- Teaching & presentation skills .
- The ability to work resourcefully oand independently, but also a good team player.
- IT literate.
- A full UK driving license
