The ability to work within a multidisciplinary team is essential. Applicants must be both flexible in their approach and be ready to meet the challenges presented by the evolving health service changes in North Wales.
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in all aspects of work including outpatient clinic sessions in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, labour ward and gynaecology operating theatre lists in addition to the hybrid resident/ non-resident on-call rota. At present all Consultants participate in twilight cover as resident on call.
Consultants are expected to be physically on site while providing labour ward cover during working hours. The Consultant will not provide any other cover e.g., ANC or GOPD while covering Labour ward.
The post holder will be expected to show a commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training, and a qualification in medical education would be desirable, in addition to the special interests

Qualifications
Essential
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
- MRCOG or equivalent appropriate specialist registration
Desirable
- GMC Specialist Registration in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
- Gynae Oncology ATSM/ITSM or equivalent
- Colposcopy ATSM/ITSM accreditation
- Additional relevant degree
Clinical Experience and Training
Essential
- Clinical training and experience in general Obstetrics and Gynaecology equivalent to that required for UK CCST
- Appropriate level of experience in training grade posts at SpR, SR, ST grade
- Completed ATSM/SITMs appropriate to the post
Desirable
- Appropriate level of training and experience leading to accreditation for GMC Specialist Registration
- Additional clinical experience/ training required for the role
Leadership and Management
Essential
- Proven engagement in management activities
- Evidence of effective service development
- Experience of supervising staff
Desirable
- Qualification/ evidence of management and administration experience
- Teaching qualification
Skills and Abilities
Essential
- Excellent leadership skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, relatives, GPs, nurses and other agencies
- Ability to work under pressure
- Good organisational skills
- Excellent management skills
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
