The Dermatology Department provides a wide range of multidisciplinary specialist clinics as well as general dermatology services. Formerly a post graduate teaching hospital it is now fully integrated into the Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the Guy's and St Thomas' School of Medicine (GKT) of King's College London (KCL). St. John's Institute of Dermatology contributes to GKT research activities as part of the Division of Genetics and Molecular Medicine, GKT Medical School, King's College London and provides an annual MSc postgraduate course. Cutaneous medicine is also one of seven designated themes which form a core component of the Biomedical Research Centre at GSTT and KCL.
This post requires flexible working to provide consistency in patient care. It involves covering various clinics each week with the majority based at the Guy's Hospital site with some commitment to inpatient care at St Thomas'. There may, additionally, be flexibility to provide clinical services across other SE London hospitals depending on service need. We are exploring new ways of working including non face-to-face contact and the post-holder will be asked to contribute to these as appropriate.
Provide High Quality Care to Patients
- The post holder must be medically qualified and maintain GMC specialist registration and hold a licence to practice

- To act as educational supervisor and appraiser as delegated by the Clinical Director to ensure external accreditation of training post.
- Clinical efficiency e.g. length of stay (LOS) reductions, reducing cancelled operations and Did Not Attend (DNA) rates.
- Quality of outcomes e.g. infection control targets, reducing re-admission rates.
Medical Staff Management
- To be responsible for the annual appraisal of all doctors in training, Trust doctors, Clinical Fellows and non-consultant grades as delegated by the Clinical Director/General Manager.
Governance
- To work closely with the Directorate, Patient and Public Involvement panels in relation to clinical and services developments as delegated by the Clinical Director.
Strategy and Business Planning
- To participate in the business planning and objective setting process for the directorate and Trust where appropriate.
- To work collaboratively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and Kings Health Partners as required.

Qualifications
Essential
- Eligible for full UK GMC registration and a Licence to Practise.
- Eligible for full GMC Registration with entry on the Specialist Register for Dermatology, or within 6 months of CCT.

Research, Teaching skill & experience
Essential
- Track record of research, publications/ understanding / knowledge of research ethics.
- Experience of involvement in or running of clinical trials.
- Experience of teaching and training undergraduates, postgraduates and junior medical staff.
Desirable
- Evidence of original research.
- Higher degree e.g. MSc.
- Possession of PhD or MD.
- Teaching qualification.
- Ability to lead and develop a teaching programme.
Audit management & IT
Essential: - Track record of clinical governance, audit, management and IT skills required.; - Understanding of principles of audit.
Desirable: - Track record of service development.
Clinical skills
Essential
- Significant expertise in the management of tertiary services in dermatology, cancer and general dermatological patients. A clinical and research interest in Cutaneous Lymphoma/GvHD
Clinical Experience
Essential: - Comprehensive clinical experience in Dermatology.
