Job description

A full-time fixed-term opportunity, with the potential to progress to a substantive post is available for a Consultant Haematologist with expertise in...

Candidates should have a specialist interest in Haemostasis and Thrombosis and TTP and will be expected to provide a comprehensive inpatient and outpatient service within non-malignant and general haematology. Significant experience in these areas is essential. The post holder will be expected to progress to undertake the clinical lead role for the DVT and anticoagulation service and chair of the Trust Thrombosis Committee. The successful candidate will also contribute to the haemostasis and thrombosis laboratory diagnostic services.

The Specialist Thrombosis tertiary referral service is based at the Queen's Medical Centre and encompasses inpatient and outpatient care, a nurse-led anticoagulation service, and an ambulatory DVT pathway. A busy clinical liaison service for thrombosis is provided across both hospital sites providing advice and support across a wide range of services. NUH is a regional centre for the management of TTP through the East Midlands TTP Network, delivered in partnership with University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. Patients from across the region are referred to Nottingham for specialist TTP management, which is delivered on the City Hospital campus. This service is supported by the haematology apheresis team, with further expansion planned through the opening of a new dedicated apheresis unit at the City Hospital site in July 2026.

Queen's Medical Centre is home to the Nottingham Comprehensive Care Centre for Haemophilia, which provides a specialist service for adults and children with bleeding disorders. The service is supported by a dedicated multidisciplinary team, including 4 specialist haemophilia nurses, a data manager, and administrative support staff.
