We are looking to recruit an experienced Locum Advanced Nurse Practitioner to work as part of the Urgent Care Centre team based at Bursledon Surgery. ...
This role will involve assessing and triaging patients, including same day triage, and as appropriate provide definitive treatment (including prescribing medications following policy, patient group directives, NICE (national) and local clinical guidelines and local care pathways) or make necessary referrals to other healthcare professionals.
- Deliver safe, effective, and evidence based care through autonomous clinical decision-making, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for a wide range of conditions.
- To undertake and interpret diagnostics and take appropriate action to manage patient care, distinguishing between abnormal and normal findings in order to relate them to a possible diagnosis, using clinical guidelines as appropriate.
- To signpost appropriately to other services in the identified healthcare pathway.
- Communicates highly sensitive condition related information to patients, relatives and carers.
- To maintain accurate and systematic documentation of patient interactions and clinical care provided, including adverse events.
- Promote collaborative working relationships and effective communication between all members of the team at the Urgent Care Centre.
- Ability to interpret a range of diagnostic tests and routine clinical procedures.
- Works within professional guidelines and codes of conduct.
- Report all accidents, incidents, and all ill health, failings in equipment and or environment to line managers.
- Maintain and clean equipment as per guidelines that are used in the course of your duty.
The practice has seven Partners. The current Partnership team is Dr Harris, Dr Cropley, Dr Graham, Dr Sonpal, Dr Shahsavanspour, Dr Yates and Dr McKenzie.
We employ fourteen salaried GPs, five Advanced Nurse Practitioners, a Nursing team of fifteen, and a reception/admin team of seventy.
The practice uses EMIS as a clinical system. We are paper light, so scan all incoming correspondence onto patients medical records.
Qualifications
Essential
- Registered Nurse
- MSc, Level 7 qualification or equivalent (NMC requirements for advanced practice must be met)
- Independent/supplementary nurse prescribing qualification
- Advanced nursing specialise qualification
- Relevant nursing/health degree
Experience
Essential
- Nurse Prescribing
- Must be able to see children and adults
- Nurse-led management of minor illness, minor ailments and other minor injuries
- Nurse-led triage
Desirable: - 3 years + recent primary/community nursing experience; - Compiling clinical protocols and guidelines
