Lecturer in Occupational Therapy

Deliver an outstanding student learning experience through the design and

delivery of high-quality, inclusive, and applied teaching grounded in the

Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. In this role, you will actively champion

student success by driving improvements in retention, attainment, and graduate

outcomes.

To deliver, and where appropriate lead, scholarship and research, innovation,

knowledge exchange (RIKE) and/or professional practice/ engagement,

producing high-quality outputs and developing pathways to impact that

strengthen curriculum quality, advance academic activity, support income

generation and enhance the Universitys academic reputation and civic mission,

working collaboratively within academic teams and with external partners.

This role involves teaching, assessing and supporting student progression

on our pre-registration BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy- Degree Apprenticeship

programme to prepare learners for contemporary practice. This post is ideal for

an HCPC-registered Band 6 or experienced Band 5 occupational therapist seeking

to move into higher education, with opportunities to innovate teaching and

inspire students, contribute to research activities and develop an academic

career.

Design and deliver high-quality, inclusive and

research-informed by the scholarship of teaching and learning activities

creating engaging learning experiences that support student recruitment and

retention, success, progression and employability; including research-led

learning, projects, live briefs or professional practice-based tasks, using

evidence, feedback and data to enhance student engagement and outcomes.

Contribute to and/or lead the design, development and

continuous improvement of learning activities, digital resources and assessment

strategies, using module review and student feedback to enhance learning and

ensure alignment with quality assurance frameworks, external reference points

and emerging pedagogic practice;

contribute to the

design and delivery of assessment, including project or dissertation

supervision where appropriate, ensuring alignment with learning outcomes and

academic standards.

Provide, oversee and qualityassure assessment and

feedback processes within allocated modules within stipulated timeframes,

ensuring constructive feedback that supports students learning, progression,

academic integrity and achievement.

Provide oversight and subject specific academic advice

to support students progression and engagement; ensure effective signposting

and appropriate referral to pastoral and support services, acting as a first

point of contact and triaging students to specialist support where appropriate,

contributing to the enhancement of student outcomes across the programme.

Lead or contribute to the operational management of

modules and course management activities, projects or academic activities, when

required/ appropriate, ensuring effective organisation, communication and

timely resolution of day-to-day issues.

Build and maintain relationships with external

partners (e.g. employers, industry and professional communities), engaging with

networks and partnerships to support curriculum development, employability,

applied learning and student opportunities and enhance the student experience.

Provide management and guidance to colleagues,

including direct reports where appropriate; support work planning and

contribute to performance management;

contribute to key

HROD processes such as recruitment, induction, development planning and

contribution to appraisal.

act as a point of

escalation for colleagues, as and when required

contribute to the

development of colleagues through mentoring, peer review or scholarship

activity.

Deliver, and where appropriate lead, scholarship of

teaching and learning and research, innovation and knowledge exchange (RIKE)

relevant to the discipline, producing high-quality outputs such as

publications, professional practice outputs, dissemination, or identifying and

pursuing opportunities for external funding that strengthen curriculum quality

and contribute to academic activity, including contribution to REF where

appropriate.

Engage in continuing professional development to

maintain and enhance subject expertise, academic practice and professional

standing, and contribute positively to academic communities through networking,

collaboration and knowledge sharing.

These duties may evolve in line with the changing

strategic objectives of the college / department and

University. Specific objectives will be agreed through the

Universitys performance and development review (PDR) process.
