Job description

We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic, and highly motivated midwife to provide strong clinical and managerial leadership within the maternity service...

Provide clinical leadership to midwifery and non-midwifery staff, medical team students and ensuring effective management the activities of the delivery suite area as well as the service as a whole.

The post holder, to be proactive in providing high standards of midwifery care, facilitate patient flow to other clinical areas thus increasing positive experience for women and their families.

The post holder to be part of the quality improvement projects in the unit,support in the implementation, embedding and evaluation of results.

The post holder will work with maternity matrons and other stake holders to ensure staff deliver a level of service that is equitable, person-centred and evidence-based care that are consistent with the recommendations of all relevant reports and guidelines.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Midwife
  • Intravenous accreditation
  • Prep for Mentorship course or equivalent
  • BSc or working towards

Experience

Essential

  • Post registration experience including recent intrapartum experience.
  • Recent experience of staff management
  • Experience of Equal Opportunity polices and procedures
  • Experience of caring for low risk as well as high dependency women in pregnancy, labour and postnatal delivery and supporting others to do so
  • Experience of caring for at risk / socially excluded patient

Knowledge

Essential

  • Understanding of own Knowledge and Skills Framework and ability to identify learning needs and interests
  • Demonstrates a greater understanding of learning needs and evidence of facilitation skills
  • Understanding and rising to the challenges in service improvement
  • Can demonstrate a knowledge of current and emerging health care issues

Desirable

  • Knowledge of current and emerging NHS strategy and policy
