To undertake protocol based psychological assessment of young people applying psychological theory, including neuro-psychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client's care.
- To assist in the formulation of young people's needs, under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologist.
- To assist in the co-ordination and running of therapeutic groups or clinical projects.
- To work with other staff to contribute to multi-disciplinary discussions or care guidelines as agreed with the clinical psychologist providing supervision.
- To assist in the development of a psychologically based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all clients of the service, across all settings where care takes place.
- To convey unwelcome or unpleasant news to service users and families in an empathetic and sensitive manner
- To effectively manage frequent distressing or emotional circumstances, accessing support when required.
- To be able to cope with occasional, potential stressful, upsetting or emotional situations in an empathetic manner, such as referrals which may have information about traumatic childhood experiences and abuse.
- To create graphs, presentations or charts to collage or summarise data on individual interventions or treatment programmes.

- To undertake data collection, analysis, the production of reports and summaries, using IT and statistical programmes
- To undertake searches of evidence-based literature and research to assist qualified clinical psychologists in evidence based practice in individual work and work with other team members.

Education
Essential: - Honours Degree in Psychology
Desirable: - Post-graduate experience in relevant areas of professional psychology
Experience
Essential: - Working within a CAMHS setting
Desirable: - Experience of facilitating therapy groups.
Skills
Essential: - Experience of contributing to audit and service evaluation in a CAMHS setting.
Desirable: - Experience of undertaking research, audit and/or service evaluation.; - Experience using computers for databases or data-analysis.
Knowledge
Essential: - An understanding of the needs and difficulties of young people, people with mental health problems, learning disabilities and/or other disabilities
Desirable: - Experience of undertaking research, audit and/or service evaluation.
Effort
Essential: - Ability to manage emotional circumstances and distressed states of young people.
Desirable: - Have experience of using mental and emotional effort in a workplace and managing this via the supervision process and professional support as required
