The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be able to work within a team environment and be thoroughly conversant with the use of clinical systems.
The Band 5 & 6 Interpersonal Therapist will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing Interpersonal Therapy. The post holder will be expected to hold a clinical caseload and will be provided with clinical supervision.
To acquire the band 5 trainee post you must hold the relevant qualifications to gain a funded training place. Please ensure you meet the training provider's entry criteria before applying. As follows:
Evidence of completing a course of study in a model of psychological therapy
A minimum of two years of post-qualification experience delivering psychological therapy
At least one of the following
- IAPT specified counselling or psychotherapy accreditation
- Accredited BABCP or HCPC

Qualifications
Essential: - Counselling qualification to Level 5 (minimum); - Registration and accreditation with a core professional body (e.g. BACP, UKCP)
Desirable: - IAPT approved qualification (CfD, DIT, CBT)
Experience
Essential
- Evidence of substantial post qualification experience in conducting psychological therapy
- Knowledge of and commitment to appropriate ethical framework
- Demonstrable evidence of supervised practice
- Knowledge of the application of therapy in mental health practice
- Knowledge of a broad range of psychological therapies including time limited interventions
- Ability to use clinical supervision and personal development positively and effectively
- Ability to manage own caseload and time
- Ability to meet agreed/ specified service targets
Desirable: - Delivery of time limited interventions; - Experience of working in a Talking Therapies service

- Ability to use own initiative and work autonomously with caseload and administration
- Ability to undertake psychological assessments of service users referred to the service. To include identification of the service users problem, comprehensive risk, assessment and identification of goals for therapy.
- Ability to make decisions on suitability of new referrals adhering to referral protocols.
- To be able to deliver group or individual interventions in line with the organisation's requirements.
- Demonstrate working knowledge and understanding of all relevant policies.
- Understanding of common mental health problems and of current approaches in treatment e.g NICE guidelines.
- Demonstrate an understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological therapies and how it relates to this post.
- Awareness of adult and child safeguarding requirements
- Good written and communication skills
Desirable: - Worked in a service where agreed targets are in place demonstrating clinical outcomes.
