We are looking for an experienced, innovative, collaborative and dynamic individuals to join a team of analytical specialists in the Communicable Disease Surveillance Centre (CDSC) to provide a proactive and responsive service.
The post holder will provide analytical support to the development and maintenance of public health surveillance schemes in the CDSC. This will include developing analysis plans and advising on efficient analysis of large datasets, as required. Support may be across any of the CDSC areas of expertise as required, including:
- Healthcare Associated Infection, Antimicrobial Resistance and Prescribing Programme (HARP)
- Blood Borne Viruses, Sexual Health, Tuberculosis and Inequalities
- Gastrointestinal Infections and Zoonoses
- Vaccine Preventable Disease and Respiratory Infection
Cross-cutting groups include field epidemiology; settings-based surveillance; and environmental surveillance.
The post-holder will be based within the BBV, STI, TB and Inequalities team, but will also be expected to undertake surveillance tasks as part of the CDSC rota and to cover other areas as required as part of a team of information analysts.

Qualifications
Essential
- Good honours degree in science, information science or a numeric discipline, or equivalent experience
Desirable
- Relevant postgraduate qualification or experience of scientific work at an equivalent level
Experience

- Experience of working in an office environment
- Experienced user of information technology
Desirable
- Experience of working in health intelligence, public health or epidemiology
- Experience of working with primary / secondary healthcare

- MS Office (Word, Excel, Access)
- Statistical software such as STATA
- Management and analysis of complex data sets
- Organisational skills, including managing several strands of work simultaneously
