Youll be the organisational backbone of the HR team, keeping daily activity running smoothly and ensuring staff receive timely, professional support. Your work will centre on coordinating meetings, preparing documents, managing enquiries and keeping information flowing accurately across the service. Youll be trusted to handle sensitive matters, support recruitment activity, maintain orderly records and keep colleagues informed and prepared.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety: one moment you may be arranging a hearing or preparing minutes, the next youre helping staff with routine queries or ensuring paperwork is completed correctly. Youll work closely with the Hospital Director and HR colleagues, becoming a reliable point of contact and a calm, organised presence in a busy environment.

Purpose of the role
The HR assistant provides efficient confidential and high quality administrative support to the HR function at Ashness house. The role ensures smooth day to day operations and reliable support across employee relations recruitment and general HR processes.
Role overview
You will organise and minute meetings manage routine HR administration handle sensitive information and act as a first point of contact for staff and external enquiries. The role requires professionalism flexibility and the ability to work independently in a busy environment. Provide confidential administrative support to the hospital director and HR team including organising meetings hearings and staff related events.
Prepare agendas distribute papers and take accurate minutes for employee relations meetings ensuring actions are followed up.
Manage day to day HR queries resolving routine issues independently and escalating where appropriate.
Handle sensitive and sometimes complex information professionally both verbally and in writing.
Organise meeting rooms and facilities ensuring accessibility and practical needs are met.
Maintain accurate electronic records and support hr processes such as recruitment administration fixed term contract tracking certificate of sponsorship and visa compliance maternity packs and DBS monitoring.
Support workload peaks across the hr team providing flexible assistance when required.
Represent the HR function professionally in communications with staff and external contacts.
Prioritise and organise your workload to meet operational deadlines including typing formatting documents photocopying and general administrative tasks.
Arrange temporary administrative cover when required ensuring accurate records and correct payment authorisation.
Draft routine and nonroutine correspondence for the hr team.
Work flexibly to meet service needs including varying weekly hours where required.
Follow Ashness house policies and procedures and contribute to improvements in administrative practice.

Experience
Essential
- At least four years experience working in an office environment using Microsoft office including word excel and PowerPoint
- A minimum of two years experience in an HR role
- Strong understanding of administrative processes electronic filing systems and document formatting
Qualifications
Essential
- A Level or equivalent qualification.
- CIPD Level 3 or a commitment to work towards it
- Significant demonstrable experience in an HR environment may be accepted in place of formal qualifications
