This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR professional who enjoys being close to the organisation, building trusted relationships with managers and colleagues, and making a tangible difference to the employee experience.

You will provide a comprehensive HR service across the practice, acting as a trusted adviser to managers and supporting the full employee lifecycle. You will be strategic in your thinking but hands-on in your approach, with the confidence to take ownership of matters independently, provide constructive challenge and know when to seek further advice or escalate risk.

Healthcare, primary care or NHS experience is highly desirable. However, we are equally interested in strong HR professionals from other regulated or complex environments who can demonstrate relevant and transferable experience.

Salary is negotiable and will reflect experience, qualifications and the contribution you can bring to the role. Both full-time and part-time applications will be considered.

Please note: We reserve the right to close this vacancy early should sufficient applications be received. Early application is therefore encouraged.

Work Location: In person

What you'll be doing

  • Support managers to effectively manage attendance, performance, wellbeing and workplace issues.
  • Coach and advise managers to build their confidence and capability in managing people effectively.
  • Provide appropriate challenge where required, ensuring decisions are fair, consistent, proportionate and aligned with employment legislation and organisational policies.
  • Identify employment risks and provide clear recommendations, escalating complex or high-risk matters appropriately.
  • Support managers through organisational change and other people-related challenges.

  • Support and advise managers throughout the recruitment and selection process.
  • Develop and promote effective recruitment approaches that attract high-quality candidates.
  • Support pre-employment checks, onboarding and induction processes.
  • Ensure recruitment practices are fair, inclusive and compliant with relevant requirements.
  • Contribute to improving the candidate and employee experience.

People Management & Development

  • Support managers with effective performance management, objective setting and employee development.
  • Support effective appraisal processes and contribute to a culture of regular feedback and development.
  • Identify and contribute to learning and development opportunities across the practice.
  • Promote positive employee engagement, inclusion, wellbeing and organisational culture.
  • Contribute to organisational development and wider people-focused projects and initiatives.

HR Operations & Service Delivery

  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HR systems.
  • Support the development, implementation and review of HR policies, procedures and processes.

  • Ensure HR processes are delivered consistently, efficiently and in accordance with employment legislation, regulatory requirements and organisational policies.
  • Ensure appropriate and timely management of HR documentation and processes.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the HR team to maintain a responsive, high-quality HR service.
  • Provide day-to-day support and guidance to HR colleagues where required.

Healthcare & Primary Care

  • Develop a strong understanding of the specific workforce requirements and challenges within general practice.
  • Support compliance with relevant NHS, primary care and healthcare workforce requirements.
  • Support appropriate processes relating to professional registration, safeguarding, employment checks and other healthcare-specific requirements where relevant.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality when managing sensitive employee and workforce information.
  • Understand and respond appropriately to the regulatory and workforce context in which the practice operates.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, systems, policies and the overall employee experience.
  • Contribute to wider people initiatives, workforce projects and organisational development activity.
  • Support the implementation of new HR processes and ways of working.
  • Keep up to date with employment legislation, HR best practice and developments affecting healthcare employers.
  • Take ownership of agreed HR projects and deliver them effectively.
