Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual.
Phlebotomy
Working under a PSD to deliver vaccinations
Management of Long Term Conditions
Chaperoning duties
Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by
Maintenance of clinical equipment
Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording
Clinical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock
rotation
Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms
Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before,
during and after patient care interventions
Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients
health and well-being
Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how
it can be promoted
Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs
related to health and well-being
- Phlebotomy (taking blood samples)
- Blood pressure checks
- ECGs
- NHS Health Checks
- Routine health screening
- Chronic disease monitoring support
- Administering B12 injections, Shingles, Pneumococcal and flu vaccinations (if appropriately trained)
- Assisting with minor surgery and clinics
- Maintaining clinical equipment and stock
- Updating patient records accurately on the clinical system
- Supporting the nursing team and GPs as required
- Promoting health education and wellbeing

Qualifications
Essential: - NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification)
Experience
Essential
- Previous experience in a General Practice or Primary Care setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Compassionate, patient-focused approach
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Good organisational and time-management skills
- IT skills and ability to use clinical systems (training provided)
- Commitment to patient confidentiality and data protection
- Commitment to undertake additional training to meet the requirements of the role of a Healthcare Assistant in General Practice
Desirable: - Phlebotomy, ECG, and vaccination experience.; - Understanding of infection control, health and safety, and safeguarding procedures
