Assist the Senior Finance Business Partner in formulating, agreeing and setting budgets in consultation with managers and in accordance with Trust policies and strategies and to maintain controls on budget movements throughout the financial year.
Contribute to the monthly production of the financial position and forecast by achieving the corporate reporting timetable
Support the investigation of variances to plan to provide high quality information to budget holders to enable timely implementation of remedial actions
Establish and maintain regular liaison with Directorate Managers, ward and Departmental Managers
Assist in developing the quality of financial information and support provided by the Department and to be pro-active in the provision of financial information to managers,
Contribute to the business planning process, service and capacity planning with the Senior Finance Business Partner, Directorate Managers and Service Managers, using well developed analytical and accounting skills and a range of computerised systems.
Participate in appraisals and personal reviews and work to achieve the agreed objectives.
Ensure that Financial Standing Orders / Standing Financial Instructions are adhered to.
- Day-to-day management of the Budget Manager and Budget Officer including supervision, development, management and appraisals.

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
As part of our commitment to safeguarding patients and staff, many roles at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) require a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. This is a standard process across the NHS and helps us ensure a safe environment for everyone.
A DBS check is a background check that reveals any criminal convictions, cautions, reprimands, or warnings. The level of check required depends on the role:
Standard DBS: Checks for spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands, and final warnings.
Enhanced DBS: Includes the above, plus any additional information held by local police thats considered relevant to the role.
Enhanced with Barred Lists: Includes all of the above, plus checks against the childrens and/or adults barred lists.
Most roles involving direct patient contact, working with children or vulnerable adults, or access to sensitive information will require a DBS check. The job advert and recruitment team will let you know if this applies to your role.
At Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), roles that require a DBS check are subject to a cost recovery policy. This means that the cost of submitting and processing a DBS application if you are successful and join us, will be deducted from your salary within the first three months of employment. If, however, you withdraw from a conditional offer after the DBS process has begun, you will still be liable for the cost incurred.

Education/ Qualifications
Essential: - CCAB or CIMA qualified, or part qualified or qualified by experience but actively studying.
Desirable: - Degree, ECDL or equivalent.

- Experience of working in a multidisciplinary, complex environment.
- Experience in supporting change in a complex environment
- Experience of team and line management
- Demonstrable experience of creating and working with complex spreadsheets and formulae to support management information (e.g. modelling, forecasts).
- Significant experience of using financial ledgers to code /extract /analyse /report upon financial information
Desirable: - Experience of working in the acute hospital sector in the NHS; - Use of Integra financial ledger

- Excellent Excel /spreadsheet skills to manipulate complex and numerous data.
- Strong numerical skills, including the ability to complete complex calculations
- Able to analyse, interpret and summarise financial information concisely to present key points including consideration of the wider picture/future scenario planning.
