Langdon Hills Medical Centre has a fantastic opportunity for a healthcare assistant to join the practice, and support the nursing team, on a full or p...

  • wound care, venepuncture, phlebotomy checks and administering of medicines and vaccines
  • new patient health checks
  • re-stocking and stock rotation of surgical equipment and vaccines
  • clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms
  • preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations
  • providing valuable health promotion and education for service users, their families and carers.

The role will offer you the opportunity to build on your experience, skills and competence, requiring you to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Langdon Hills Medical Centre is an innovative, well organised and forward-thinking GMS training practice. We have a practice population of 14,500 patients, with a growing list size. We have a supportive nursing and administrative team and use the SystmOne computer system. We offer a competitive salary, NHS pension and on site parking.

Qualifications

Desirable

  • Successful completion of the Care Certificate, or willingness to undertake, as indicated by the CQC
  • A qualification in phlebotomy/venepuncture

Experience

Essential

  • Experience within primary care or another healthcare setting
  • Excellent patient-facing communication and interpersonal skills
  • Consistently confidential manner, as well as a compassionate and respectful approach, placing a high value on the dignity of patients, relatives, carers and colleagues
  • Ability to work independently and determine own workload priorities, as well as working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.

Desirable

  • Experience of working within a GP practice
