- Carry out NHS health checks and routine clinical observations, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, weight and BMI.
- Undertake phlebotomy and prepare or process specimens for laboratory collection, where trained and competent.
- Perform other agreed procedures, such as ECGs, urinalysis, blood glucose monitoring, new-patient checks, smoking-status reviews and health-promotion activities.
- Support long-term condition reviews and vaccination programmes within agreed protocols and competency.
- Maintain accurate, timely and confidential electronic patient records.
- Prepare, clean, stock and maintain consulting and treatment rooms and clinical equipment.
- Recognise and report concerns or changes in a patients condition promptly to an appropriate clinician.
- Follow practice policies on infection prevention and control, safeguarding, information governance, health and safety, equality and confidentiality.
- Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, administrative colleagues and the wider primary care team.
- Undertake training, supervision and competency assessments relevant to the role.
- Administration & paperwork, ensuring all appropriate templates & coding are completed.
- Undertake NHS Health Checks.
- Measure and record blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, weight and BMI.
- Carry out ECG recordings.
- Perform new patient health checks.
- Undertake wound care and simple dressings following appropriate training.
- Carry out simple health screenings and observations.
- Assist with chronic disease monitoring clinics.
- Chaperone patients during examinations and procedures.
- Prepare consulting and treatment rooms before and after clinics.
- Ensure clinical equipment is cleaned, maintained and calibrated in accordance with infection prevention and control policies.
- Provide high standards of compassionate care to patients.
- Promote healthy lifestyles and support patients with smoking cessation, weight management and general wellbeing advice.
- Support patients to understand health conditions and treatment plans.
- Maintain patient dignity, privacy and confidentiality at all times.
- Respond appropriately to patient concerns and escalate clinical issues when necessary.
- Accurately record all clinical information within the patient's electronic medical record.
- Process pathology samples safely and correctly.
- Manage stock levels and order clinical supplies when required.
- Ensure clinical rooms remain well stocked and compliant with infection control standards.
- Participate in clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives.
- Assist with recall programmes for chronic disease management and screening.
- Adhere to all infection prevention and control policies.
- Ensure safe disposal of clinical waste and sharps.
- Maintain a clean and safe clinical environment.
- Report incidents, accidents or significant events in line with practice procedures.
- Comply with all health and safety legislation and practice policies.
- Work within the scope of competence and seek advice when appropriate.
- Maintain professional registration where applicable.
- Participate in mandatory training and continuing professional development.
- Attend practice meetings and contribute to service improvement.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with GDPR, NHS guidance and Practice policies.
- Work collaboratively with GPs, Nurses, Reception Staff, Administrators and the wider Primary Care Team.
Moulton Medical Centre is a friendly, progressive and well-established rural dispensing practice in South Lincolnshire, situated approximately 5 miles from Spalding, 17 miles from Bourne and 20 miles from Peterborough. Our experienced and supportive multidisciplinary team comprises:
- Two GP Partners and one Salaried GP
- Clinical Pharmacist
- Paramedic
- Practice Nurses, including clinicians with specialist interests in Asthma, COPD and Diabetes
- Through our Primary Care Network, we also work closely with First Contact Physiotherapists, Social Prescribers and Health and Wellbeing Coaches, ensuring patients are seen by the most appropriate healthcare professional.
- GMS practice using the SystmOne clinical system
- Established Total Triage model, supporting safe and effective workload management
- High QOF achievement and delivery of a broad range of enhanced services
- Dispensing practice serving approximately 95% of our patient population
- In-house Minor Surgery and LARC clinics

- Active involvement with our ICB, Primary Care Network, Patient Participation Group and the wider community
Qualifications
Essential
- Care Certificate or equivalent qualification.
- Disclosure and Barring Service Check
- This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
Experience
Essential: - Experience working within a healthcare setting.
Desirable
- Previous experience working in General Practice or Primary Care.
- Experience undertaking ECGs.
- Experience carrying out NHS Health Checks.
- Knowledge of chronic disease management.
- Experience using Systmone
- Awareness of CQC standards and infection prevention and control procedures.
