The post holder is part of a multidisciplinary team
delivering care to patients. Support and supervision is provided by a
Registered Nurse. This role will be expected to carry out a range of patient
care tasks and duties to enable the team to provide an effective and efficient
service.
To achieve this the post holder will be expected to:
Competently
perform the necessary aspects of care for patients.
Ensure effective
delivery of care is provided to patients and that an acceptable standard is
maintained.
Follow all
policies and provide a safe and person-centred environment for patients.
Participate in personal and practice
development activities to maintain standards of care.

Experience
Essential
- Experience of working in a care environment.
Desirable
- Manual handling of patients, using lifting aids.
Qualifications
Essential
- Vocational qualification level 3 or equivalent / level 2 qualification in care and willing to undertake relevant level 3 qualification upon appointment or equivalent qualification or experience.
- Care Certificate or expected to gain within 12 weeks of commencing in
- Trust.
- Willing and able to undertake Safety Intervention training.
- I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.
Skills and Abilities
Essential
- Ability to provide limited delegated clinical duties to patients e.g. patient observations.
- Ability to challenge poor behaviour.
- Role model good behaviour.
- Ability to communicate clearly in English in both verbal and written forms.
- Ensure that own actions support equality, diversity, rights and quality.
- Treat patients with dignity and respect.
- Be able to take an active role to be a link person for specific tasks i.e. IPC and to carry out audits, meetings, feedback to the team as required.
- A positive attitude and able to act on feedback.
- Ability to praise and be supportive to others.
- Ability to follow instructions and feedback to senior staff.
- Ability to work a part of a team as well as on own initiative.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Able to provide supervision i.e. for HCA or T level students.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
Additional Criteria
Essential
- I understand that the Trust will not routinely provide sponsorship to work for this role, and employment on a time limited visa doesn't guarantee sponsorship at point of expiry.
Knowledge
Essential
- Knowledge of care related procedures, clinical observations, and relevant legislation.
- Can demonstrate an understanding of how to promote independence and facilitate learning in others.
- Basic IT skills.
Desirable
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge of MHA and MCA issues.
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge of areas relating to role setting (i.e. Mental Health, Learning Disability, Autism, Epilepsy).
- Knowledge of relevant Acts relating to the role (i.e. Care Act, Children Act).
