Main Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Practice Nursing Team and will undertake a range of clinical duties, including:
- Phlebotomy (taking blood samples)
- Blood pressure monitoring
- Height, weight and BMI measurements
- New patient health checks
- NHS Health Checks
- ECG recordings
- Urinalysis
- Smoking cessation and health promotion advice
- Assisting with vaccination and immunisation programmes
- Wound care and dressing clinics (where trained and competent)
- Chaperoning duties
- Stock management and ordering of clinical supplies
- Processing and preparing specimens for collection
- Maintaining accurate clinical records using EMIS Web
- Preparing and maintaining clinical rooms and equipment
- Supporting infection prevention and control procedures

- Essential
- Previous experience working as a Healthcare Assistant within Primary Care, General Practice, Community Services, or another healthcare setting
- Care Certificate or equivalent qualification
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Caring, compassionate and professional approach to patient care
- Good IT and record-keeping skills
- Understanding of confidentiality, safeguarding and infection prevention and control
Desirable
- Desirable
- Phlebotomy qualification and experience
- Experience undertaking NHS Health Checks
- Experience using EMIS Web
- Previous General Practice experience
