An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the CAMHS Crisis and Intensive Home Treatment Team (CCIHT) as a Band 3 Healthcare Assistant within Children...

The Healthcare Assistant will support children, young people, and families experiencing a mental health crisis and emotional distress as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Key duties include delivering planned care and therapeutic interventions under the direction of registered practitioners; providing practical and emotional support; monitoring wellbeing and reporting concerns; gathering information to support clinical decision-making; responding to telephone enquiries and referrals; and maintaining accurate clinical records.

The post holder will contribute to handovers, team meetings, supervision, training, and service improvement activities, while working within safeguarding, confidentiality, and professional boundaries.

As part of a flexible CYP Intensive Mental Health Services workforce, the post holder may be required to provide support across community and inpatient services, including the CAMHS Crisis and Intensive Home Treatment Team, Inspire CAMHS Inpatient Services, and Family Day Services. Training, induction, and competency support will be provided, with opportunities for rotational development across services.

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential

  • Level 3 healthcare qualification

Desirable

  • Knowledge of multi-disciplinary working

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrates knowledge of the role of Community Healthcare Assistant in this service within the application
  • Experience of team working
  • Basic understanding of a range of common long term health conditions

Desirable

  • Experience of working within a Community Nursing setting

Skills and Competencies

Essential

  • Excellent verbal communication and listening skills with patients/colleagues/carers
  • Sufficient IT skills to learn the systems required for clinical recording, incident reporting and equipment / stock ordering
  • Time management and prioritisation skills

Desirable

  • Clinical skills e.g. phlebotomy, bladder & bowel care, wound care, diabetes care, taking vital observations
