Patient Care: Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care, assisting with hygiene, mobility, nutrition, hydration, and emotional well-being while maintaining patients' dignity and safety.
Clinical Support: Perform and record observations (e.g., vitals, blood glucose), assist with care plans, clinical tasks, mobility aids, and patient preparation for procedures.
Team Collaboration: Work within a multidisciplinary team and students, and contribute to handovers and meetings for seamless care delivery.
Administration: Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and health and safety standards.
Development: Engage in training and development to enhance skills and stay updated on best practices.
General Duties: Maintain a clean, safe environment, support infection control, and undertake delegated tasks to ensure ward efficiency.

Qualifications and Training
Essential
- NVQ level three in care (or substantial relevant experience)
- Care Certificate
Desirable
- Additional relevant care-related qualifications (e.g. venepuncture, ECG recording, wound care, phlebotomy, catheter care).
Experience
Essential
- Experience of working in a health or social care setting.
- Experience of providing direct care and support to patients/service users
- Experience of working as part of a team
- Experience in maintaining accurate patient records
Desirable
- Experience of working in an inpatient rehabilitation, acute hospital, or similar clinical environment.
- Experience of participating in Audit
- Experience of working with people who have had a fall
- Knowledge of aids and equipment used to promote independence
Knowledge
Essential
- Knowledge of personal care and basic nursing procedures.
- Understanding of confidentiality and data protection in a healthcare setting
- Awareness of infection prevention and control practices
- Knowledge of safeguarding principles for adults (and children where applicable).
- Awareness of equality, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace and patient care
Desirable
- Knowledge of rehabilitation processes and promoting patient independence.
- Understanding of neurological conditions, long-term conditions, or mental health needs
- Knowledge of risk assessment and health & safety in clinical environments
- Familiarity with electronic patient record systems (e.g. SystmOne, Rio, EPIC).
- Understanding of NHS values and the role of the HCA within a multidisciplinary team
