An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Healthcare Assistant to join the nursing team at Rother House Medical Centre for 2 days per week. Currently, ...

Clinical Duties- Assist in the care of practice patients, including treatment, preventative care, screening, and patient education.

  • Provide health promotion and lifestyle advice to patients and signpost to relevant local and community services.
  • Assist with the collection and collation of data relating to patient health and wellbeing.
  • Undertake venepuncture (phlebotomy).
  • Perform spirometry testing.
  • Carry out ECG recordings.
  • Conduct blood pressure monitoring.
  • Complete new patient health checks.
  • Perform urinalysis testing.
  • Record height, weight, temperature, pulse, and other routine observations.
  • Act as a chaperone during clinical consultations and examinations.
  • Prepare for and assist clinicians during clinical sessions, including minor surgery and coil clinics.
  • Undertake home visits as required for blood tests, urine collection, and chaperoning duties.
  • Perform wound care, dressing changes, and suture removal.
  • Carry out INR testing.
  • Administer B12 injections in accordance with practice protocols.
  • Support seasonal vaccination programmes, including administration of flu vaccinations where appropriately trained and competent.

The purpose of

the role is to assist the clinical team in the service and delivery of the care

management of the practice population. The Health Care Assistant works under

direct supervision of the clinical team and undertakes tasks and duties

delegated by the clinical team or a suitably qualified regulated professional.

They will work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs

of patients, in strict accordance with specific practice guidelines and

protocols.

Qualifications

Essential

  • GCSE grade 4/C (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics
  • Experience of working with the general public
  • Experience of working as an HCA or Phlebotomist in a healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding ,infection control and clinical governance
  • Ability to work independently and as part of the multidisciplinary team
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Good communication, organisational and IT skills
  • Ability to work Monday and Tuesday 8.15am to 5.15pm

Desirable

  • Care Certificate Qualification
  • Has worked in a primary care environment
  • Phlebotomy skills
  • Experience using EMIS
