HCA with Phlebotomy Skills

Phlebotomy skills, including management of

patients taking Warfarin

Chronic disease management for hypertension,

chronic kidney disease, ischaemic heart disease

BP recording, including 24 hour tapes

ECG recording, including 24 hour tapes

Preparing and maintaining environments and

equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including

assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations

Patient health checks

Chaperoning duties

Processing and management of laboratory samples

requested by GPs/Nurses

Ensuring instrument kits are sent for

sterilisation in a timely manner and received back

Sterilising, cleaning and maintenance of

surgical equipment

Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and

recording fridge temperature

Checking surgical equipment stock levels and

stock rotation

Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of

patients health and well-being

Helping to raise awareness of health and

well-being and how it can be promoted

Recording clinical findings and updating data

entry on clinical system according to practice requirements

Assisting with the collection and collation of

data on needs related to health and well-being

Working under the direct

supervision of the Nursing Team and strictly in accordance with specific

Practice guidelines and protocols, the Healthcare Assistant will assist the

Practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes

of patient care.

Working as part of a small, experienced nursing and GP support team, this is an ideal opportunity for someone who wishes to expand their skills in a supportive and very patient focussed environment. Candidates should already have some experience within the medical/healthcare sector, including experience of phlebotomy.

This role offers a wide variety of skills and training opportunities in a patient focussed role.
