The Family Nurse role is responsible for delivering the FNP intensive and preventive home visiting service to vulnerable and hard to reach young woman who are expecting their first baby. The post holder will be required to develop high level generalist and specialist skills to work within the clinical methods of the service delivery. Family Nurses will be expected to develop therapeutic relationships with clients and work intensively within complex family situations to achieve the expected outcomes. This is a specialist role

Education & Qualifications
Essential
- Nursing or midwifery qualifications and registered with the NMC
- Degree level or equivalent professional qualification
- Completion of the FNP Family Nurse National Clinical learning programme
Desirable
- Masters level education
Experience
Essential
- Significant experience of working with families in deprived communities
- Significant experience of midwifery, child health, public health , home visiting and clinical supervision
- Working with children & families
- Working with young people
- Working as a Family Nurse
Knowledge
Essential
- Understand the difference between advice giving and motivational approaches.
- Has some knowledge of the research base of NFP. Parent/infant mental health
- Willingness to undertake personal study to develop understanding of a range of clinical areas National and local safeguarding policies
- Attachment theory, Self efficacy theory, Human ecology theory and Behavioural change theory
