As a Generic Worker, you will be an integral member of the Facilities Team, working closely with Facilities Housekeepers, Facilities Team Leaders, Fac...
Areas may include
- Patient bedrooms, ward areas, day rooms, and lounges
- Toilets, bathrooms, and other sanitary facilities
- Offices and meeting rooms
- Outpatients departments
- Kitchens and catering areas
- External patio areas and the immediate vicinity of building entrances
You will be expected to identify and report faults with equipment and assist in resolving minor issues where appropriate. The role also requires flexibility to adapt to changing cleaning schedules and service demands.
Training and development are an important part of this role. You will participate in training as directed by the Facilities Team Leader, including cleaning techniques and mandatory subjects such as Fire Safety, Moving and Handling, COSHH, and Infection Prevention and Control.
In addition to cleaning duties, you will provide cross-cover across Facilities services, which may include:
- Supporting kitchen operations, including the preparation and service of food for patients and staff, and the production of vending sandwiches.
- Providing portering cover, ensuring the safe and timely movement of patients, equipment, supplies, and other items across the hospital site.

Qualifications
Essential
- Range of work procedures and practices, base level of theoretical knowledge plus experience relevant to the post
- Able to demonstrate a good standard of English language
Experience
Essential
- Experience working with a commercial cleaning and catering environment
Desirable
- Knowledge of allergies
- Understanding Health & Safety in the workplace including infection control and moving and handling procedures
Additional Criteria
Essential
- Good communication skills
- Ability to use IT Skills.
- Ability to undertake physical tasks
- Ability to undertake Manual handing procedures
- Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service
- Prepared to change shift when required could include weekends
- Car driver or otherwise mobile with appropriate business insurance and ability to travel to other Trust sites
Desirable
- Knowledge of COSHH
- Knowledge of HACCP
