Facilities Assistant - Driver

To primarily support the Transport Department in providing a service to transport patients to Hospitals, Prisons, Courts and various other destinations in the country.

There is also a requirement to support the Portering Department working in our main stores, delivering and collecting items from around the hospital and also to work in our waste management centre.

Driving duties would take priority.

Successful applicants with no prior NHS experience would normally be placed at the bottom of the band in line with Agenda for Change. This salary is below the minimum salary required for sponsorship for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa. In these circumstances the Trust would not, therefore, be able to sponsor for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa.

To drive any vehicle in the fleet in connection with the conveyance of patients and staff. Ensuring task schedules, method statements and procedures within the area of work are followed and that a high quality service is maintained.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.

Qualifications

Essential: - Basic Level of Education; - Basic Numeracy / Literacy Skills

Training

Desirable: - Road Transport Legislation; - Police Radio Trained

Experience

Essential: - oMinimum of 5 years driving experience

Desirable: - Advanced driver training, emergency response(blue light)

Knowledge

Desirable: - Knowledge of Driving Logistics; - Awareness of High Secure Hospitals / Patient & Client Issues; - oKnowledge of Portering and waste services

Contractual Requirements

Desirable: - oCategory C1 & D1 held on driving licence; - oPSV/LGV Licence
