As an Evidence & Knowledge Officer, you will work as part of a supportive team, contributing to the delivery of high-quality public health evidence and helping promote its effective use.

  • Provide administrative support to the Evidence Service team, including for essential library functions overseen by the Evidence Service,and virtual and in-personinductionsand training delivered by the Evidence Service.Support induction andfamiliarisationactivities for new staff and users of the Evidence Service.
  • Communicate and liaise with colleagues and stakeholders across Public Health Walesandexternally,andprovide a first point of contact for email enquiries,with a specific focus on library and evidence service resources
  • Deliverpractical instruction and guidance to users on accessing library resources, databases, evidenceproductsand current awareness tools.Provide demonstrations of systems and processes to colleagues and service users asrequired.
  • Identifyand resolve routine information retrieval issues, escalating more complex matters whereappropriate.
  • Undertakebrief literature searches and identify relevant articlesand research papers on given topics.
  • Assistwith updating andmaintainingthe Evidence Service intranet pages, under the supervision of senior Evidence Service staff.

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential

  • Higher National Certificate, NVQ Level 4, foundation degree, Higher National Diploma or equivalent, or relevant equivalent experience, together witha high levelof numeracy and written and spoken English.
  • Knowledge of a range of bibliographic databases and other sources of public health evidence and theirappropriate use.

Experience

Essential

  • Basicsearching of bibliographic databases andwebsites.
  • Experience asafirst point of contact for requests and enquiries.
  • Experience of delivering current awareness services.
  • Experience performing a wide range of administrative and business support duties.

Desirable: - Experience of working in a library.; - Previousexperience of dealing with customers,clientsand/or members of the public.

Skills & Attributes

Essential

  • Competent user of commonMSoffice software(Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePointetc.).
  • Good communication, presentation,and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable to work requirements in a changing environment.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.

Desirable: - Website maintenance.
