Job description

We are looking for an experienced, practical and flexible Estates Mobile Technician (Multi-Skilled) to join our Estates team based at Erleigh House, R...

  • Carry out planned and reactive engineering and building maintenance across Trust-owned, managed and occupied sites.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex faults across plant, equipment, electrical and mechanical systems and building fabric.
  • Complete PPM activities and support statutory compliance, including Legionella controls, fire systems, lifts, electrical systems and boilers.
  • Record labour, materials and job activity accurately on the MICAD Helpdesk system using a Trust-issued handheld device.
  • Work from drawings, instructions and specifications, undertake new installations and ensure disturbed areas are properly made good.
  • Liaise with service users, departmental managers, the Estates Helpdesk and contractors to minimise disruption to patient services.
  • Support and supervise contractors, contribute to risk assessments and health and safety arrangements, and deputise for the Estates Maintenance Supervisor when required.
  • Travel across Berkshire, transport tools and equipment, and participate in the on-call rota and out-of-hours working as required.

Education, qualifications or training

Essential

  • City & Guilds, HNC, apprenticeship, NVQ equivalent or other approved equivalent training in mechanical, electrical, plumbing or building engineering, with skills across multiple trades

Desirable

  • Gas Safe registered or working towards registration

Previous Experience

Essential

  • Significant and relevant post-apprenticeship work experience gained over several years

Desirable

  • Industrial maintenance experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Essential

  • Knowledge of plant and machinery across a wide range of services, including boilers, air conditioning, fire alarms, medical gases, sterilisers, nurse-call systems and other equipment
  • Capable of providing work supervision of contractors
  • Ability to participate in the on-call rota.
  • Prepared to undertake cross-trade work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with staff and clients.
  • Ability to work alone and take the initiative within the limits of personal experience and knowledge.

Additional Requirements

Essential

  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to drive
  • Able to undertake the requirements of Working at Height and confined space working as needed.
  • Maintain an acceptable appearance, using the overalls and identification badges supplied by the Trust
